Testicular ultrasound in a patient with Kallmann syndrome: A case report

Introduction. Kallmann syndrome is a genetic disorder marked by hypogonadotropic hypogonadism and anosmia. Patients with have low circulating testosterone levels gonadotropin levels, whereas other pituitary hormones are normal. The treatment based on sex steroid replacement the aim to restore normal pubertal development includes attempts fertility using gonadotropin-releasing hormones. Ultrasound examination of testicles very useful complement determine monitor precise testicular volume, which an important prognostic factor for future fertility. Case Report. At age 18, patient was suspected having referred endocrinologist. After three months therapy, sent ultrasound testicles. right testicle measured 16 x 6 mm, left 10 5 both discrete marginal circular dichroism signal. One year after first ultrasound, came checkup. 14 11 stationary structure. Conclusion. diagnosis often delayed, because usually not apparent until puberty, individuals anosmia unaware this sensory deficit.
